Overview

FieldDeck is designed to protect your business data. The app operates with a local-first architecture: your job records, client details, photos, signatures, and contracts stay on your device. On iOS, your data can sync through your personal iCloud account. On Android, your data stays entirely on your device — there is no cloud sync — and you can create a password-encrypted backup file that only you control. FieldDeck has no accounts and no backend for your data: we do not collect, store, or transmit your job data to any FieldDeck server.

However, to market, improve, and measure the effectiveness of our product, the FieldDeck marketing website (fielddeck.app) does collect standard analytics and advertising data, as detailed below. This collection happens on the website only — not in the app.

Our free web tools are designed to run locally in your browser. When you create an invoice, estimate, or change order on fielddeck.app, that document content is generated on your device and is not uploaded to FieldDeck servers as part of the normal PDF generation flow.

Website Data, Browser Storage & Contact Requests

When you visit fielddeck.app, browse our marketing pages, use our website tools, or contact us, we may collect:

  • Browser-Stored Tool Drafts: If you use our browser-based tools, the information you enter may be saved locally in your browser storage on your device so your draft persists across reloads. This draft content is not uploaded to FieldDeck servers by default.
  • Contact Information: Email address, trade type, state, and other information you choose to provide when you contact us or submit a form requesting support or resources.
  • Online & Technical Data: IP address, browser and device information, approximate geolocation derived from IP, referring URL, pages viewed, campaign parameters, and consent preferences for security, site delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.

Browser-stored drafts remain under your control on that device and in that browser profile. You can remove them by using the tool's clear/reset option or by clearing your browser storage.

How Our Free Web Tools Handle Your Data

  • Local Processing: Invoice, estimate, and change-order PDFs are generated in your browser on your device.
  • No Cloud PDF Upload by Default: We do not upload the contents of your document to FieldDeck servers to create the PDF.
  • You Control Sharing: A document leaves your device only if you choose to email it, print it, text it, export it, or otherwise share it yourself.
  • Draft Persistence: To keep drafts available after a refresh, some tool inputs may be stored locally in your browser using browser storage technologies such as localStorage.
  • No Optional Tracking on Sensitive Tool Pages: Our browser-based document generators and PDF editor do not load optional analytics, advertising tags, or session replay on pages where you may enter or upload customer or job document information.

Analytics, Advertising, and Retargeting

We use third-party tools to understand marketing-site behavior and ad performance. These include PostHog for website analytics and consent-based session replay on non-sensitive marketing pages, and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel for advertising measurement on marketing pages.

  • Consent-based Tracking: We only load optional analytics, session replay, and advertising technologies after you opt in via our tracking prompt. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we default optional tracking to off.
  • Marketing Page Analytics: With consent, PostHog may capture page views, referring campaign parameters (UTMs), button clicks and similar high-level interactions, browser and device information, and session replays on non-sensitive marketing pages so we can understand website usage and improve the site.
  • Sensitive Tool Exclusion: We do not load PostHog session replay, Meta Pixel, or other optional tracking on our browser-based document generators or PDF editor pages where customer or job document content may appear.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: Depending on the tool and your choice, this may include cookies, pixels, JavaScript tags, browser storage, and similar technologies used for measurement, attribution, replay, and advertising preferences.
  • Advertising & Retargeting: With consent, Meta Pixel may receive online identifiers, page and activity data, and conversion events from marketing pages for campaign measurement and retargeting. Meta processes this data according to their own Data Policy.
  • Categories of Recipients: We may disclose online identifiers, internet or network activity information, browser/device data, campaign attribution data, and related website telemetry to analytics providers, advertising and attribution partners, and service providers that help us operate, secure, or measure the website.
  • Data Minimization: We do not intentionally include direct identifiers or document contents in website analytics event payloads, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, PDF contents, or free-form document text.

Data We Store Locally (In-App)

FieldDeck stores the following information locally on your device (and, on iOS, within your private iCloud if sync is enabled):

  • Business profile information
  • Job records, line items, and photos
  • Client contact information and signatures
  • Custom contract terms and templates

We do not process the legal content of your contracts or job details; they never leave your device except by your own action (sharing a document, exporting, or iOS iCloud sync).

In-App Analytics & Telemetry: None

The FieldDeck app contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking code, and it does not communicate with any FieldDeck server. There is no FieldDeck account to sign in to. All analytics described in this policy happen on the fielddeck.app website only.

One clarification so our claims stay precise: subscription purchases are handled by the platform's own payment service (Apple on iOS, Google Play on Android), and those platform services communicate with Apple or Google to process and verify purchases under their own privacy policies. FieldDeck's own code sends nothing to FieldDeck.

Device Features & Permissions (In-App)

The app uses a small set of device features, each tied to something you do on purpose:

  • Camera & Photos: Job and approval photos are processed and stored on your device. On Android, every photo is re-processed before it is saved, so location (GPS) and other embedded camera metadata are not kept — and the app never requests location permission, so photos cannot contain your location.
  • Calendar (optional, Android): You can add individual jobs to your device calendar. This is per-job and user-initiated. By default the event contains only the job number and title; including the client's name, address, or phone number is off by default and controlled by separate opt-in toggles.
  • Notifications (optional): Job reminders are local notifications generated on your device. They are off by default and never involve a server.

Data Sync, Backup, Retention & Deletion

On iOS: your job data syncs through Apple's iCloud service. This sync is encrypted by Apple and inaccessible to FieldDeck. You control retention and deletion directly:

  • Delete jobs or clients in-app to remove them from your device/iCloud.
  • Delete the app or manage iCloud settings to remove cloud-stored data.

On Android: there is no cloud sync of any kind, and Android's automatic OS backup is disabled for FieldDeck, so your data is never copied off the device by the operating system. You control backup and deletion directly:

  • You can create a manual backup file from Settings. It is encrypted with AES-256 under a password you choose; FieldDeck cannot read or recover it, and where you store it is up to you.
  • Delete jobs or clients in-app to remove them from the device.
  • Use Delete All Data in Settings to permanently erase the app's database and generated documents from the device. If you enabled the optional calendar sync, events you added to your device calendar can also be removed from your calendar app.
  • Uninstalling the app removes its data from the device.

To request the deletion of your email address from our marketing systems, please contact us at support@fielddeck.app.

Your Privacy Choices & U.S. State Notices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we maintain about you, and to opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing activities where applicable. We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on applicable law, our use of cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for advertising or measurement may be considered "sharing," a "sale," or processing for targeted advertising. You can update optional tracking preferences anytime using the "Your Privacy Choices" control in our footer or by clicking below. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to turn off optional tracking on this site. You can also manage personalized ads through platform preferences (e.g., Meta Ad Preferences). Our site does not use legacy "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals for preference handling.

To make a privacy request related to information we control, contact support@fielddeck.app. We may need to verify your request before fulfilling it.

Data Export

You can export your data as CSV files from the Settings screen in the app. Some export formats are part of the Pro tier, but your data always remains accessible on your device. Your data is always yours.

In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android). We never receive or store your payment information; payment data is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

FieldDeck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
